Artist: Julia Holt
Oil on Canvas
9.75 x 11.75”, 2025
Aftermath Landscape is part of an ongoing series influenced by the ancient poetry found in the Book of Psalms. Holt often turns to the Psalms for personal reflection, since October 7th, when she joined a group committed to reading a psalm a day, that the words began to take on a new life in her artistic practice. Holt allows the imagery to settle into her mind and spirit, until certain words call out as visual anchors. The palette for this work draws from the fire within: burnt orange, golden yellow and crimson red, a rising sun casting warmth and promise.
