The images of carnage and people being dragged off to underground tunnels by Hamas terrorists reminded me of the Greek myth of Persephone. She was a goddess who was abducted by Hades, the king of the underworld. The tragic pleas of the families ofcaptured hostages evoked the tears of Demeter, Persephone’s mother.
